From Rampling To Fever Ray With Some E.S.P

April 12, 2009

Fever Ray

So a lovely afternoon down at the Afternoon Sessions with Danny Rampling showing that he still has that balearic vibe. He played a lovely mix of sounds and showed it may be time for him to return to his roots.

From there it was over to the Royal Festival Hall to see a wonderful Fever Ray show. Swampy electronics, heavy tribal drums and a murky deep south feel gave us a very deep dark hour. An amazing light show using lasers, sound-linked lounge lamps and costumes added to the whole feeling. It was one of the most interesting electronic shows I have seen to date and comes highly recommended if you like your music dark and mysterious. A couple of parts of the album also have a mid-tempo Compass Point vibe which is always a good thing.

We finished the night off at E.S.P with Steve Terry and Felix from the Tonka Sound System throwing down a lovely mix of disco and house. Perfect.

Here’s a track for those that attended the Afternoon Sessions birthday party.
